Videos Help Make the Case For Driving Hope

We asked the question, "Does a problem really exist? Do medical patients in rural areas find it difficult to arrange suitable transportation to and from their treatments?"

Upon meeting with social workers at Baylor Scott and White, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and with the American Cancer Society, the answer came back as a huge "YES." The problem is real. The problem is common.

Since the first quarter of 2019, Driving Hope of Texas has been providing non-emergency transportation in the Central Texas region. In the first half of that year, Driving Hope provided only 16 rides. By the end of 2019, we logged 87 rides. The records from this past year show that Driving Hope provided 2,400 rides in 2021 and we expect to providing over 3,000 rides in 2022.

The demand is real. The demand is growing.

The Driving Hope vans provide an affordable option—safe, comfortable and reliable long-distance transportation for patients and their caregivers. We are based in Bell County, but we are ready to serve counties of Mills, Brown, Comanche, Hamilton, Coryell, and Milam in addition to Bell County.
